Meet Kevin Downs

Kevin Downs, CLU
Partner
After a successful career as a golf professional, Kevin Downs decided to settle down in a role that would allow more time with his young children. He chose financial services because of a lifelong fascination with numbers, logic, geometry and physics - and because he would have ultimately gone into finance had he not followed his passion and talent for golf.
"We have the opportunity to change people's lives by showing a concept that most advisors aren't using."
'Classically trained' in the skillsets you would expect of a conventional financial advisor - Kevin holds FINRA Series 6, 62, 63, 65 securities licenses, life, health and accident insurance licenses, and is authorized to offer fee-based financial planning. Furthermore, he has over 15 years of experience working with executives, small business owners, individuals and families. Yet to describe Kevin as a financial advisor would not accurately represent his mastery and expertise in the field of retirement income planning.
Kevin is the co-creator of The Retirement Blind Spot, a innovative financial planning strategy that educates pre- and post-retirees on the most common, costly pitfalls of retirement planning. "I developed this program because I couldnt believe how much of their hard-earned money my clients were paying in taxes during retirement," Kevin explains. Eye opening and inspirational, his presentation jolts viewers by revealing the concrete realities of generating a livable retirement income. By using conventional financial services instruments, Kevin is able to creatively structure highly tax-efficient retirement streams. "What I get most excited about, is the opportunity to change peoples lives," says Kevin.
Kevin backs his presentation with transparent explanations that satisfy the most analytic of clients, while he is equally capable of providing easy-to-understand summaries for those who prefer a big picture approach. "I ask people to listen to this strategy just once, and decide for themselves whether this approach makes sense for them - or not," he says.
Kevin played golf in college, and graduated cum laude from Mississippi State University with a degree in marketing. He graduated with honors as an academic all-American from Barton County Community College, which he attended on a golf scholarship. He was the Head PGA Golf Professional at Hamilton Mill Golf Club in Dacula, Georgia.
He currently resides in Dacula, with his wife, Jennifer and their three children. They are members of Ivy Creek Church, where Kevin is a Deacon. Kevin also serves as a school board member at Dominion Classical Christian Academy.
